Young woman drawn in charcoal

After the initial drawing in with pencil I started at the top of her hair using charcoal.


 

After most of the hair had been laid in I picked up some of the charcoal from the hair with my finger and laid it into the forehead indicating the form there.

More of the form of the hair had been put in with charcoal and now I started with the eyebrows and eyes.

 

The laying in of the features are roughly drawn in here with charcoal but not necessarily sticking to the pencil lines, it is best to be rather loose and to have freedom of expression rather than following the original pencil lines.

All the features have been laid in now and I restate the hair and put in the ear.
