Yorkshire artist Roger
Simpson entered a competition called a brush with fame which was on ITV television a few years ago. Here Roger is seen with Christian Furr (Right) who was one of the judges and who also was commissioned to paint her majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. Carol Smiley introduced the programme (below) Roger has shown his work in quite a few art galleries but here again this isn't something that he really wanted to do, he only wanted to draw and paint portraits and landscapes not to show his work in galleries.
He would prefer going into a local library where he would pretend he was reading a book but was actually drawing a portrait of the person opposite him. He made this website picturedraw in the year 2000 and gets emails from many people
from around the world saying why does he call his website picturedraw, well he says its simple, I draw pictures so naturally I called it picturedraw.
Picturedraw is a website for artists who want to learn about drawing and
painting any subject in all mediums and Roger is trying to make
demonstrations, videos and DVDs in these media in all subjects so people can
learn. Knowone can teach people how to draw or paint but you can help by
example and to gain knowledge and a style of your own he says.
Email me even if its just for a chat I reply to you within the hour.
