Blending mediums
There are various watercolour painting mediums to choose from and to use for
different painting techniques, Blending mediums are what it says on the
bottle, it helps to keep your colour wet longer so you can blend your
colours more if needed but this is something that I wouldn't really bother
with but if you need more time or you take more time to paint then its worth
a try.
Gum Arabic
Gives you more time to work with, drying times are longer and will make your
colours more transparent.
Art masking fluid
Used to mask out areas that you want to keep light like highlights, can come
in handy but I prefer not to use it myself as I find it too inhibiting and
can make your painting a little on the wooden side but some artists use it
very successfully.
Ox Gall
Used for painting onto paper that maybe a little resistant to watercolour,
using a little ox gall in your watercolour you can paint in the normal way,
if your paper is repelling the colour, your paint will go on normally using
ox gall.
