Underpainting and
overpainting and here the divisions of the fields where
maybe hawthorn bushes divide the fields are painted in giving form to them.
More overpainting has been added and darker colours added to the bushes beside the cottages leaving alone the light greens. A darker wash has been painted over the sea area and slightly lifting my brush so it is just touching the paper I created a dry brush effect where the texture of the paper shows through suggesting the crest of the waves. The gutters of the cottages have been painted in.
Chimney pots, fences and posts have all been painted in here and it is advisable not to put all what you see into
a painting, just the parts that will enhance it.
With a square ended brush I mixed a darker green and by flicking my brush upwards created a tall grass effect in the foreground.
More darker tall grass has been added here which makes the foreground come out to us.
The edge of the tiled roofs and accents are now painted in.
The finished painting and nothing more really has happened here, the painting shows liveliness and was painted in around half an hour and I think if you paint in watercolour any longer than this you star fiddling and messing about with the painting and it then loses its freshness....I hope you have enjoyed this demonstration.
