The title description and keywords for websites are extremely important
if you want your website on the first page of search engines.
The title
The
example left is the source code of common websites and what we are concerned
about here is the third, fourth and fifth lines down under the head
tag, the title, description and keyword tags which the search
engines read.
If you open the source code in your website
creation programme, on the page you are looking at you will see similar
code to this and you can change this code to whatever you want. Here I have added the title: Pencil art
on the web, look carefully and see exactly where this title
is put, it is in between both <title> words.
The description
The second line of text is the description which is a detailed description
of your whole website, so write a description that your page is about, for
instance: A great resource for anything to do with pencil art on the web,
although this isn't a great description it serves a purpose here. You can add your title (Pencil art) into the description of your website and this will reinforce your
title and your website giving your site a bit more weight in search engines.
Keywords
The third line down is the Keywords tag and some search engines read the page
looking for keywords that your page is about, for instance pencil art
on the web,
so this wants to be in the keywords line like: pencil art on the web,
pencil art, pencil on the web, art on the web, with a comma separating
each keyword. Keywords aren't much used nowadays but there are still
some search engines that read keywords. Although this isn't a webpage
about coding your website I hope I have given you a slight knowledge of
what is needed for your website.
