Sketching simple hair

The hair goes on and the shape of it is important if you want to get a likeness because the shape of someone's head and hair determines who it is. If you saw a silhouette of one of your friends you would know who it is so the shape of the head and hair is very important.

The tone goes in and just blocking in a dark shape with the side of the charcoal.

By shaping a putty rubber so I could pull out the middle tones and highlights of the hair we get a variety of tone.

You can see the shape of the putty rubber here so I can pull out the lights and you can make any sort of shape as seems fit for the job

The finished hair and here you can see what you can do by just putting in tone and then pulling out tones with the rubber.
