Here a sketch of a bride over water and I first started off with the bridge which is the centre of interest here, sketching in a half circle for its shape.
A suggestion of trees above and beyond the bridge have been added and here I have just started on the rocks to the left.
Rocks have many plains but usually have a main plane and here vertical planes have been drawn in using the pencil to describe these vertical planes.
Vertical strokes of the pencil go in for the vertical plane of the bridge and more tree shapes have been added and I'm still keeping everything quite loose here.
More rocks are now added especially in the foreground area, this area didn't jut out like it does here but I used artistic licence to give a bit more of the foreground which adds a little depth to the sketch now.
Here is the finished sketch and not much more has been added apart from darks added to the bottom of the rocks and using horizontal sketchy lines across the water this in turn adds a little more depth and shows the water's horizontal plane.
