Simple perspective in drawing is quite easy and not as difficult as what
you might think, in drawing we don't really need to use accurate
perspective, we are not a draughtsman or a technical drawer, we are
artists so we don't need to be so accurate, in fact we don't need to use
perspective at all if we don't want to, but sometimes using simple
perspective does help in certain drawings. For example if we were
drawing a street scene we would need a certain degree of perspective.
As above a simple street scene with both verges of the
road meeting on the horizon line and where both verges meet is called
the vanishing point. All diagonal lines meet at this point like the
guttering of the house and the window ledges, the street light tops also
converge at this point. All diagonal lines below the horizon line
converge up to the vanishing point and if there was an house above the
horizon line all diagonal lines would converge down to the vanishing
point. So this is simple perspective and is probably the only type of
perspective you will use in drawing.
