Reclining male figure and first I draw a line down the center of the figure,
this
line goes from the head down to the right side of the left knee (Looking at
the sketch) and describes this angle.

Once I get the angle of the shoulders which is a downward angle from the
left shoulder to the right one I start sketching the right arm which is what
I'm interested in here.

The folds of the skin is what I'm sketching in now and it is best if you
can get them in rather loosely as with all the sketch, otherwise the sketch
can to look tight and wooden. The angle of his breasts are the same as the
angle of his shoulders here.
Sketching
is about thinking in shapes and making sure they are all related and it is
good to keep holding up your pencil either to your live model or your
photograph to make sure these shapes are correct. For example hold your
pencil up horizontally on the right arm (Looking at the sketch) where the
crease of the arm is and observe that the left elbow is somewhat above this
horizontal. Similarly hold your pencil vertically to the left arm pit and
you will see that the right side of the left leg nearly comes to this
vertical. In this way you can construct your figure and make sure everything
is correct.
Shading
is added here and it is a good idea to only use shading on a figure if it
helps the sketch, I instinctively new that I wanted some shading on the
right arm because this arm is resting slightly backward and the ball joint
of the shoulder is coming slightly towards us so some shading here helps in
this area. This also describes where the light is coming from which is from
the left so with this it was a good idea to carry this shading on down to
the bottom of the torso.

Dark accents are added to bring out the sketch, observe where these dark
accents are which bring out the most important parts of this pose.
