Quick draw of a woman

Quick draw of a womanQuick draw of a woman and I think here Quick draw of a womanher left leg is a bit too short in both length and width and will be altered later. I hope you can see that the upper torso comes down at an angle from right to left.

Quick draw of a womanNow I'm drawing in darker lines over the lines I've already laid down and I'm not too bothered if they go over the previous lines accurately because the darker lines I'm putting in could be and probably will be more accurate than the first lines. It is all about finding the form and it doesn't matter how many lines you put down as long as they convey the form.

Quick draw of a womanEven more darker lines are now added to the top half of her body and some of these lines are form finding lines and some are dark accents. A bit more detail has been added to her face but not too much.

Quick draw of a womanHere is the drawing so far and you can see that the right leg was too long from top to bottom so here I have shortened it but still leaving the original lines in to add character to the sketch.

Quick draw of a womanShading is added here and it is important not to add too much shading in a sketch like this, it isn't an highly finished and polished drawing it is just a sketch which can have more life and vitality in it than any finished drawing. The point here is if you want to draw a figure in a highly finished manner with all the shading put in try to keep the shading to a minimum, too much shading and especially in a sketch can ruin the whole feel of your drawing.

Quick draw of a womanHere is the finished sketch of a woman which has variety of line (Outline in this case) and has a fullness or a three dimensional quality through the use of line and shading. I hope you have enjoyed this quick draw of a woman demonstration. Buy the Figure sketching CD here >>
