Pastel pencils are now used for details like the eyelids where a fine line is needed and more darker shadows have been added here with charcoal.
More texture has been added to the beard created by leaving white paper showing through the charcoal strokes, his jacket has being modelled with tone and here I don't want any texture in his jacket I just want a smooth texture here.
Here the putty rubber is used for the first time pulling out middle tones above the eye and a few middle tones in the beard. The indentations between the eyes have been added and more definition to the nose has been done.
Here I'm pulling out highlights in the hair by using the putty rubber made to a blunt point and the ear has been modelled with really dark darks and middle tones.
You can see the variety of tones throughout the portrait from dark tones to middle tones and to highlights.
Wisps of thin highlights to the beard have been added with the putty rubber and more middle tones have been added to the hair. The jacket has had really dark tones added here with some of the tone pulled out with the putty rubber to create middle tones. We hope you have enjoyed this demonstration.
