Pencil shading information

Pencil shading information demonstration and here I started drawing in some of the features a bit more darker so the features wouldn't get lost when I start to Pencil shading informationshade in. I'm going to start shading in with coloured pencils using a light pink for all of the face area and using diagonal shading from right to left because I am right handed naturally!

Pencil shading informationNow I'm using pencil shading in the hair with the coloured pencils and it is best to follow the form with your pencil strokes, so if the form of the hair curves to the left or right follow this form with your pencil, leave white paper for the highlights.

Pencil shading informationIn the above example the white paper that was left for the highlights has now been shaded over with a light yellow because there is a warm yellow light hitting the face at these points. Shading has been laid in down the right side of the nose and forehead with burnt umber. The burnt umber in the hair has been drawn over with a dark cerulean blue to make it darker and to give it a hint of coolness.

Pencil shading informationMore of the hair has been drawn in and more form has been added to the features, a light red has been drawn in on the bottom lip.

Pencil shading informationMore darker shading has been drawn over the burnt umber I already drew in for the hair and a cool cerulean blue has been drawn over the hair on the left of her face to make this area recede a little. A yellow light area has been drawn in down the right side of her hair where this part of the hair hits the light.

Pencil shading informationNow the hair has been more fully drawn in and notice the medium dark yellow area at the rear of the head and how much cooler it is than the light yellow areas of the front of the hair. If this area was as light as the yellow areas at the front of the hair this colour would jump forward to us instead of receding back. The ribbon frills at the right of her head have just been suggested at this point and wont be too detailed anyway.

Pencil shading informationA bit more work has been added to the hair with pencil shading and the mouth area has been more fully drawn in, I have also added one or two lines in for a suggestion of the teeth.
