Painting lights on a dark man | ||
Painting lights on a dark man and in they go using  ultramarine blue a touch of alizarin crimson and white. Notice the background where I'm trying to create atmosphere rather than a plain coloured background.
More form is added to the face and lights are painted into the beard.
Notice everything has been made a little warmer because he looked a lot too cool before, colours and tones were softened and blended but not with a blending brush but with the paint I was putting on. Decoration has been added to his hat and more form is added to his beard.
More cooler colours are added to his beard in the shadow areas, his shirt just below his beard is white but it coincides in tone and colour of his beard so I think I will get rid of the shirt later.
The whites are painted into the eyeballs which aren't really white but a grey.
