Painting demonstration more detailed information in this painting demonstration
Here I'm stating to paint in the waterfall and it is important here to follow the form of water as it flows over the rocks, so with the edge of my pastel I started to paint in these strokes.
The painting so far and as you can see the composition is like a snake form going upwards from the foreground rocks to the middle ground of the waterfall and then to the watermill.
More tones and colours go in and rough detail has been added to the watermill, observation is needed here for the shadow colours and tones.
More detail is added and the round waterwheel can be drawn in as a clock and there is also a lot going on here so it is what you leave in and what you leave out that is important.
More detail and colours have been painted in and as you can see a lot of the detail is just suggested here rather than concentrating too much on painting in too much fine detail.
More work has been done on the waterfall and as I said earlier following the form of the water is vital to translate effectively the feeling of running water.
