In this painting a pony demonstration I have added a burnt umber to the hay creating another tone to it rather than just one colour (Yellow ochre) and now
the horse really looks as though it is munching on hay. More tones of colour have been added to the horse's nose and nostrils.
Highlights have been added to the front part of the nose with almost pure white and directional strokes have been used for the form of the mane.
Here is the finished portrait of a horse munching on hay and although the photograph of the horse hasn't been taken at a good angle there still seems to be a bit of depth to it...We hope you have enjoyed this painting a horse tutorial.
