Painting a nose in pastel | |||
Painting a nose in pastel and I used a pink colour on  a
dark background here so you can clearly see what is happening. This is a
profile nose and it is important to get the angle of the nose right so hold
a pencil up at full arms length and try to capture this angle, again I used
a cadmium red for the initial drawing in.
Rough highlights go in for now so I can see where I am and all we have done so far are three stages, one the angle of the nose, two the basic tone of colour and three the highlights.
Painting in darks like the dark line of the angle of the nose and nostril area.
The finished nose and just a few refinements are added like the subtle tone down the right plain of the nose. The main highlight at the base of the nose was restated.
