Painting black people information and techniques in painting black people |
 | Painting black people can be quite difficult and the biggest mistake artists make is painting the skin tones too dark. The basic drawing in of the head and features have been drawn in and one or two things are slightly out here like the right eye but these are only guide lines to lead us and to get us started in the painting.

 | A medium burnt umber now is added to the dark areas of the portrait so it is a good idea to half close your eyes to see these darks in whatever you are painting or drawing. |
 | Over these dark burnt umbers a dark cerulean blue is laid over the top and this is what you call mixing colours on the paper rather than an oil painter mixing colours on the palette, the eyebrow's have also been made a little darker so I don't loose the basic drawing.

 | The eye shapes and glasses are painted in roughly for now just to give an idea of where they are. |
 | Warm reds (Medium cadmium reds) are laid in to areas that need it like on the end of the nose, forehead and cheeks. |
 | The lips are roughly painted in with a darker brown colour and the shape of them has been a bit more defined here, after this a pure white has been added for the teeth. More>> <<Back Home Email us even if its just for a chat We reply to you today.
