Painting Birds in pastel...the artist continues blocking in tone in painting birds in pastel |
 | Painting birds in pastel and here I work all over the bird now and blocking in colour where I see it, I started to add more colour to the branch using burnt sienna with single deft strokes.
| | |
 | I started adding more greys to the branch and taking great care and using good observation to see the colours in it, trees and branches aren't just brown there's a whole lot of subtle different colours there. |
 | Detail of the branch showing some directional strokes to indicate the roundness and using different marks to show its character, some places the colours blend together and in other places the colours are hard edged thereby giving variety of edge, everything isn't just blended together |
 | Here we have the finished bird painted in pastel and I don't think you need to smooth the pastel out too much to make it look like a photograph, I think it suites the birds character to keep things a little rough and loose. We hope you have enjoyed this painting birds in pastel demonstration.
