Pablo Picasso history (1881-1973) was the son of a drawing master and had been something of an infant prodigy in the Barcelona art school. At the age of nineteen he had come to Paris where he painted subjects that would have pleased the expressionists: Beggars, outcasts, strollers and circus people. He learned how it is possible to build up an image of a face or an object out of a few very simple elements.
