Since he became a star in 1969 for his
role in the blockbuster movie Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Redford
has used his status to make a number of
important contributions to film and to
society. "Over the years, he has
probably put his money, his mouth, his
time, his energy, his intelligence, his
expertise, and his muscle more fervently
into the causes he believes in than any
other Hollywood name-above-the-title.
The Way We Were (1973) and The Sting
(1973), both in 1973, made Redford the
number one box office star for the next
three years. Also, Redford was an
executive producer for Downhill Racer.
He married Lola Van Wagenen on 9th
August 1958 and divorced in 1985. They

5th May 1962, is a screen writer),

painter), Amy (born on 22nd October
1970, is an actress), and Scott Anthony
Redford. Their first child, Scott, died
of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
