Muhammad ali painting
demonstration and carrying on by adding
medium tones painted into Ali's body and a bit more modelling to the face has been done.
A darker cooler background is now added and I painted in the gloves with a bit more detail, I also thought at this point I would paint in the highlights of both fighters but not as thickly painted in has what will be at the end of the painting. It is better to do what you feel at the time rather than regretting or losing some of the painting later on.
The background now has been more fully painted in leaving some areas of the underpainting showing through giving atmosphere. As I'm making brushstrokes in the background the brush also shapes the figures. Lighter tones are added to both fighters bodies
More form is added to Ali's body like the ribcage which is really important here otherwise his body would look flat and uninteresting.
Here it is very important to get coopers left arm right, it can so easily look wooden here with the arm being bent upwards as it is. More details have been added to both fighters and a few strokes of a lighter colour have been painted into the background to add more atmosphere.
More form is added to the boxers shorts being careful to get these forms right and the white badge in front of Ali's shorts has also been added.
