Locomotive sketching in colour

If you look closely under the train and carriages the form is vertical so I use dark vertical strokes to show this form.

The smoke goes in here starting darker at the funnel top and gradually getting lighter, although I didn't have many tones to choose from.

Notice I'm hatching here using diagonal strokes mixed in with curly lines to show the form of the smoke. I could have wet my finger and smudged the tone here to make it a bit more smokier but it could have deadened the colour so I didn't bother.
 

Greenery goes in to set off the train and doors and windows are suggested in the carriages.

The finished train and this was just a demonstration using felt pens to show form.
