Lion drawn in charcoal and here more shading has been added to the  face
and hair and the form of the hair on the left of the nose has been added
which will be blended a little later.
More form marks and the lions whiskers are put in here which don't show very well on the photo but you can see that they are there on the sketch.
The finished sketch and that is just what it is 'a sketch' and you can also see rough textures of the hair contrasted against softer areas. In some places you can let the tooth of the paper come through by lightly drawing with the charcoal and other areas you can blend with your finger.
