Landscaping using colour

Landscapes in colour and here I have painted in the fronts of the sheds on the left of the farmhouse with burnt umber and sky blue for the roofs, I also roughly painted in the tree and shed on the right. I have altered the scene by making the horizontal line at the bottom of the photograph into a Landscaping using colourdiagonal line in our composition so that now our eye moves up in a zig zag movement from the bottom to the top of the painting which makes for a better composition.

Landscaping using colourThis is where I have got so far in the painting and I have painted in the field in the background and the front of the farmhouse with yellow ochre which will be toned down later. It is always better to paint with bright colours at first so as to keep the whole painting bright and colourful. The colours that were used for the farmhouse are now carried over to the front of the sheds using the burnt umber and then over this with cerulean blue. The trees were just roughly painted in with burnt umber for now and I have also started to paint in the roof of the right shed with a light cerulean blue.

Landscaping using colourHere I have started to paint in the fence in the foreground to give a bit of depth and distance to the picture.

Landscaping using colourPainting in other colours and tones into the side of the farmhouse now and adding lights to the roof using a light sky blue, the bright yellow ochre field at the back of the farmhouse has now been toned down a little which in turn makes the farmhouse come out to us a little more.

Landscaping using colourThe windows have been painted in using burnt umber which will later be painted over with a dark cerulean blue to make them a rich dark colour and the front of the farmhouse has been lightened with a lighter grey because this area catches the light. A medium mauve colour has been added to the chimneys to add a bit more colour variety.

Landscaping using colourInside the windows have been painted in with a dark cerulean blue and the outskirts of the windows have been restated with a light sky blue colour.

Landscaping using colourMore colours and tones are now added to the front area of the farmhouse where there is a pile of stones and rubble, here there isn't much detail to see because of the distance the photo was taken so this area will be just suggested.

Landscaping using colourOther tones and colours have now been added to the side of the farmhouse to add a more rough and textured look to the house which is what I wanted, highlights have also been painted in on the chimneys.
