Jack Nicholson is one of the most
successful actors in Hollywood today and has a career that has spanned
fifty years in the industry. He has been nursing his career since his
early twenties and has now become one of the most powerful actors around
with the ability to basically set his own salary. When asked where he
will go when he retires, Nicholson hopes it will be heaven. He has been
nominated for an Academy Award 12 times (winning 3 of them), more than
any other male actor, and second only to Meryl Streep (who has 14
nominations and 2 wins) in total nominations. He is tied with Walter
Brennan for most wins by a male actor, and second to Katharine Hepburn
for most acting wins overall (Hepburn had 4). He has also won seven
Golden Globe Awards and he received a Kennedy Centre Honours in 2001. He
is best known for his films One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Stephen
King's The Shining and Tim Burton's Batman.
