Learning how to draw teeth is incredibly difficult, there are so many things that can go wrong but the main thing to remember is the alignment of the teeth to the rest of the features.
I first drew an oval shape for the mouth area, the mouth just seems to fit into an oval shape.
Using a vertical pencil held to your photograph or live model you can judge where areas need to be, here with the pencil held at the right corner of the eye you can see how much the left side of the mouth comes to the left of the pencil.
In the same manner you can judge where the gaps in the teeth are in relation to the features of the face. To find where the gap is at the middle of the two front teeth hold the pencil up vertically where the gap is and see what it is in alignment with, maybe the left side of the nostril or the right side of it.
Once you have the gap correctly placed at the two front teeth it is quite easy to judge where the other gaps of the teeth need to be. It is also important to see what sort of angle the teeth are at, we tend to think that all of a person's teeth are perfectly vertical but look carefully and you will see that each tooth is quite differently angled and it is this that gives the whole teeth area character.
