How to use a pencil and as long as you have the right materials to draw with anyone can learn to draw.
Drawing sitting down
When drawing it is important in the way that you hold the pencil, if you are sitting down with the pad on your lap it is best to hold the pencil between your forefinger and thumb just like you would with a pen. You can hold the pencil under your hand if you wish as in the second photo (below left) but I find it
very difficult this way when drawing sitting down as you have no
stability.
Drawing
standing up
If
you are standing up at an easel you can still hold the pencil the same
way as you would a pen if you like but I find this limiting. I find it
best to hold the pencil under your hand as it gives you more freedom at
the easel and
you can be a bit more freer and bolder this way rather than holding it like a pen which can make your drawing a bit tight. I use the under hand method if I am sketching at an easel and I use the first method when I am sat down drawing or sketching.
