How to back up and restore emails in Vista


How to back up and restore emails in vista and this also works in windows 7. Open windows mail click on tools then options then advanced and maintenance. At the bottom of this box click on store How to back up and restore emails in vistafolder a box opens saying your personal message store is located in the following folder. Use your left mouse button to scroll across the text so it is highlighted then right click and select copy.  Close all the boxes and click the start button and at the bottom where it says start search left click at the end of the word search and then right click and select paste. At the top of the box that opens it will say windows mail, right click and then click on send to. Click on the drive where you want to save it (Personal drive, memory stick or DVD/CD) windows mail and your emails will then be copied and saved.

If your computer crashes or you lose your emails then you will want to restore your important emails


How to back up and restore emails in vistaTo restore emails to windows mail open windows mail as usual click on file then import and then on messages, click on Microsoft windows mail 7. Click next and then on browse, another big box opens up, scroll down the left side till you find the drive you saved windows mail in, it's usually under computer, highlight the drive and look in the right box and scroll down till you find windows mail.


How to back up and restore emails in vistaAnother box comes up, in the right box it will say backup, compact,  local folders, Microsoft communities, and stationery, rest your mouse over local folders for a second so it highlights, click select folder at the bottom then click next. Here you can highlight all folders or selected folders, click next and your windows mail folders will be imported back into windows mail. You can follow the same procedure for contacts and mail account settings. Hope this helps you.
