Female figure drawing here we continue using tone in this female figure drawing
In this female figure drawing I continue to draw in with charcoal using it on its side and blocking in where the darks are but not going too dark at the moment, its better to be safe than sorry. The strokes I have just blocked in are the middle tones in place where the real darks are going to be. The light is coming from the left and slightly above making a good contrast between light and shade.
I now add more darks to the head and down the side of her neck and body and I have also started to blend in more middle tones with my finger blending between the darks and middle tones.
More darks have now been drawn in down the right hand side of her body and at this point I am starting to think about line, trying to give a dark line in some areas and a lighter line in others to show certain parts. You can see the outline of the left side of her right leg (Looking at the sketch) has a dark outline and then to the right of this dark line there is a lighter tone (thigh). More to the right there is a middle tone and then a darker tone and lastly a darker line on the right side of her leg which will eventually be a softer dark line, so there is variety of line and tone here.
And here we have the finished female figure drawing and I have blended her right leg into the table a bit to soften this area and also to give the sketch more variety of line or outline. Above this we have contrast with the bright light area of the table and then back to the darker area of her right arm resting on the table. Even the curly bits of her hair on the right of her head have variety, a thick clump of hair to thinner more wispier hairs and also this part of her hair moves in different directions and would be boring if the hair strands moved in the same direction. We hope you have enjoyed this female figure drawing tutorial.
