Words actually fail me, tears were closer than words. Beautifully captured, so life like. My husband's reaction is the same. We will treasure it and obviously tell every one. It is a gift you must treasure Thank you so much I must now start saving again. A painting with all there faces is something I have always wanted. I think they have stopped producing, but need to hurry in case of great grandchildren.

I am working away just now but my wife tells me she received the portrait today and in her words "its absolutely beautiful, best birthday present shes ever had". So if shes happy so am I !!!!

Both my wife and myself are extremely happy with the portrait you did for us, she was very surprised with the present and thought it was a very original idea. I cant think of anything to criticize, the portrait itself is excellent and the process from sending in the photo to receiving the finished portrait is also very good. You replied to my emails very quickly and I was surprised at how quickly I received th finished picture. The fact that the portrait arrived today is especially significant.
The picture was of my dad. He died on the 23rd of January this year and I wanted a portrait of him to give to my mum for Christmas. Shortly after he died I visited a medium who said that my dad was very impressed with the picture I had of him in a silver frame but he thought the picture would look better in an old fashioned wooden frame. He also said he thought he looked a fine figure of a man in the picture. I do not have a picture of him in a silver frame, my sister does, but it is of my father aged 3 so he doesn't look a fine figure of a man. We put it down to a useless medium and forgot about it.
On the 29th of November 2002 (a year today) my dad, my mum, my sister and myself went to the the hospital to get results of dads MRI scan, he had had a stroke in September and wasn't getting any better. There the doctor told us that it wasn't a stroke, my dad had a brain tumor, there was nothing they could do and he had weeks left a couple of months at the most. I can't explain the pain, the actual physical pain, I am feeling it still as I write this. That was the worst day of our lives ever (so far).
I cared for him alone at first but as he deteriorated mum and my sister joined me, we had excellent nurses from the Ellenor and together we made dad's last 2 months as happy and pain free as possible.
Well to get to the point, the picture I sent to you was scanned to me by my sister and I use it as wallpaper on my laptop. The screen of which is surrounded by a silver frame!! The paper you drew the portrait on will match the frame the medium described to me perfectly. Spooky huh? One last thing, as you have probably realised there are only two girls in my dads family, no boys. He was the last Parnell in his line and we are both married so that side of our family name is finished. That is something that has always bothered me. Your asking to put the portrait on your website has also solved that problem. Of course you can put it on we would be honored to see it. If by any chance anyone ever asks you who it is his name was Mick Parnell he wasn't perfect but he is loved.

On looking up other portrait artists, (which I also am), and that I do often, and aspiring to get into more work now that I am near my "retirement" years, I came upon your wonderful website of works and how a potential client of your's may contact you. I must say, it is excellent as to how you have it set it up to observe and follow. It is uncanny, but your "style" and ability to draw anything from a photo is so similar to how I perform in this media. I, like you, grew up with a pencil in my hand as my imagination was flying with "visual" ideas when continually gazing out the school window during a boring math class. I mean, who needed that stuff with our passion for drawing, right? At this time though, I am only drawing for clients, (and friends), in my community but hope to "expand" on this with a website somsday and hope it is anywhere similar to your's Roger. I may also wish to commission a figure drawing either in pencil or in pastel at some time in the future. As far as nude figures are concerned is there a pose or poses which you find work better than others? They seemed to think that there would be a need for this type of portrait drawing. As yet I have not passed your details onto the hospital, as at first I would like to ascertain if you are interested in any future requests of this nature. The organisation that supports neo natal deaths ( S.A.N.D.S.) were only able to provide details of one person who does such work. believe it or not, that person is based in Australia, so I hope that you can see the problems that the organisation is having in finding persons to complete work of your very high standard.
