Drawing features in charcoal and here we are sketching eyes which
aren't that difficult to
draw if you
think
of drawing them in stages, these eyes only took around five minutes to
draw and show simple sketching of the eyes. The eye shape goes in first
followed by the round lens of the eye.

The lens of the eye is shaded in with charcoal and the shadow to the
right of the eye and eyebrow are laid in.

An highlight is added and although I could have left white paper for
the highlight I prefer to put them in with a white pastel.

Middle tones of the lens of the eye are pulled out with a putty
rubber or eraser, blue tac is perfect for this.
Here
I'm starting the other eye and it is important to get the angle of the
eyes right, here they are on a slight diagonal because the head is
tilted somewhat.

The right eye is drawn in exactly the same way as the left eye but
each eye have very different characteristics, one eye lens maybe bigger
than the other so good observation is needed.

The eyes drawn in charcoal which took around five minutes to do.
