Drawing a street scene can be a daunting task for the amateur artist and even to the more experienced but with a little bit of knowledge of what is there and what is going on you can draw a street scene successfully. Observe perspective of the buildings from left to right in the example below and don't be too concerned with every little detail in the drawing that you might be doing.
Sketching a busy street scene is quite a challenge and here I have started off with just a few lines to indicate the shape of the roofs. I used the pencil to draw in a few lines just to get me started and I wasn't really bothered if some of these lines were wrong, if they were wrong I would draw another line either over the same line or adjacent to it to find the correct placement of the shape or line that I wanted.
I am still keeping my hand and pencil running quite loose over the paper here to draw in the windows of the buildings, they don't really need to be accurate as long as the shape and perspective of the lines are there. If you make mistakes with your lines don't rub them out leave them in, they make the drawing more lively and it shows the viewer how the artist constructed the drawing.
I am now drawing in the canopies of the shops with just a few rough lines but not drawing them in exactly, I'm thinking about shape all of the time and as long as I know what sort of shape they are in
our minds eye we can put them in as and how we want.
