Drawing a nude woman using
pencil and below is the photo that I am going to sketch from and this wont be a finished drawing in
the sense of careful precise drawing but will be drawn in a sketchy manner. I liked the light and shade
here falling on the figure and the way that she is sat.
I started off with drawing angled lines describing the angles of her body and how she is sat. One angle for her head, one for the torso and shoulders and one for her hips and legs. All these angles are different and describe the angles of her body and how she is sat and gives us a framework to work off.
Once the framework is drawn in I can then start drawing the actual shapes of her body and I started off with a rough oval shape for her head and this doesn't have to be too accurate here.
More of the figure has been drawn in and I'm not really worrying too much if my drawing is totally correct at this point because it is only a sketch and a piece of paper which can be thrown away if things don't go too well. What I'm interested in here is the way that she is resting her arm on the chair and her tilting forward slightly, her other hand wont be drawn in here because it looks too awkward so I'll leave that out.
Now that all the figure is basically drawn in I can use the pencil to measure proportions, like how many times would the length of the head fit into the whole figure and here it goes in around five times.
Here I am transferring these measurements to the paper and in the example on the left I'm marking off how many times the head fitted into the whole body from the top of her head to her toe.
