Drawing a muscular man

Drawing a muscular manDrawing a muscular man and here shading is added using a diagonal form of shading from right to left Drawing a muscular manleaving the light areas to take care of themselves. It is a good idea to half close your eyes to see the tones of a person whether from a photograph or from life.

Drawing a muscular man

Here I'm starting to us darker tones inside the body to describe the form.

Drawing a muscular manUsing a full length pencil here which I find best to accent certain areas especially the outline leaving some of the line darker and leaving some line softer or less dark.

Drawing a muscular man

In this photo there is form under the right arm (facing us) and here I used a few lines to describe this form with lines going from left to right at an angle from the usual shading from right to left. Why did I do this? simply because I felt like it and because I think the bulk of the arm here needed lines in a different direction to show this form better.

Drawing a muscular man

The finished sketch and not much of a difference from the previous photo other than a few subtle lines to indicate the form better like the line under the left arm (facing us) Notice I haven't bothered with the hands at all simply because all I was interested in was the diagonal movement of this person's body and his hands and fingers would have made the sketch more tighter because of the complex detail there is in hands and fingers.
