Drawing lifelike portraits
in pencil and here everything has been made darker to make the portrait more powerful and stronger, medium tones across the forehead have been draw in and slight indentations between the eyes, forehead and right eye have also been drawn in.
More tone has been drawn down the right side of the right ear and down the jaw line and underneath the chin. Creases down the right side of the nose and mouth give a bit more character to the portrait and is now starting to look a bit like Sir Winston Churchill.
The hair has now been more fully drawn in with shade and more modelling has been put in on the bottom lip which some of this shading will be removed with a putty rubber to indicate the highlight. The ear is starting to have more form now and shading has been drawn in on the right shoulder.
Here shading has been drawn in down and along side Sir Winston's jacket and his trademark dickey bow tie also gives him more character.
And here we come to the finished portrait which has really only taken an hour or so to do and as been refined even more with darkening and highlighting and accenting with line which has brought out the portrait even more. We hope you have enjoyed this drawing tutorial.
