Drawing hands all the information you will need in drawing hands |
Drawing hands are quite difficult to portray and we show you how to draw these complex looking shapes and in this tutorial the hands took around forty five minutes to draw. | | |
|
 | Here is the photograph of the hands we are going to draw or sketch from and this is probably the most common and if not graceful pose of the hands. These hands are of a lady who has got rather plump looking hands and fingers.
|
 | Here we just draw two simple lines in, the left one is for the angle of the left arm and the right one for the the angle right arm, these lines describe the movement of the arms. If you are drawing from the picture above try to capture the angle of the hands by holding your pencil diagonally and to try and capture these angles. These lines are drawn in just to get a rough indication of the angle of the hands and to get us started. |
 | Now we draw in two oval shapes which if you look at the hands in the photograph they seem to fit nicely into two oval shapes, these are just simple shapes to get us going so please don't try to be too accurate with them, just draw them in as basic shapes, observation is the key. |
 | Now we draw in the fingers and again these are just drawn in roughly and lightly at first to find our way into the drawing. I think the most important thing in drawing fingers is the angle of each finger in relation to the other ones and also the thickness of each finger, so getting these right is paramount. Look at the fingers and notice the curves in them from the knuckles down, the fingers are never straight, they all go in different directions. |
 | Here we are still trying to get the angles correct and if you notice the more confident I get in drawing the fingers the darker the lines become. I've also started drawing in fingernails albeit rather loosely. |
 | The shapes of the fingers are now coming into place but I had a bit of trouble with the thumb on the hand beneath the top hand, it seems to stick out in a funny sort of way but we will get over this later, I've also started to lay in shade.
