Directional shading with pencil | |||
Directional shading with pencil and here I show you  how I use the pencil to show the form with directional shading. First I used normal diagonal shading of the right ear as a base for the tone where darker darks and highlights will be added on top. I also drew in the collar and various chain links etc.
More of the darks in the dogs ear hair have been drawn in always following the form with my pencil strokes. One or two highlights have been brought out by using a putty rubber or an eraser and highlights have been added to the eyes.
More darks have been added all over the portrait bringing certain areas out more especially around the collar area.
Everything has been brought out a little more like in the eyes and hair and more highlights have been brought out with the putty rubber in the right ear. I hope you have enjoyed this demonstration.
