Birdwatching in Yorkshire
is a great place to be and there are plenty of birds to see and places to go, not
just the reserves but just nip to your local bit of countryside whether it
is a park or a bit of farmland and you will see birds. Go to the nearest
town where
you
live and sit on a bench somewhere and you will see a whole array of birds
and animals. I used to go birding thirty years ago and I have suddenly
started to go out again this last few years and enjoy it now more
than I ever did. If you see me out and about I will have a pair of binoculars and a camera around my neck so don't be afraid to say hello Roger (You never know) See a couple of funny video clips of birds that I took....
When
I go out birding I take a camera with me aswell as a pair of binoculars and what I usually do when I go out
is when I see a bird I take a photo of it straight away so I can identify it
on the computer when I get back home. I think it is better taking a picture
of a bird first rather than holding up a pair of binoculars first and trying
to identify it, the bird could easily fly off straight away so at least
you have a photo of it and can identify it when you get home.
I always try and have a day out birdwatching somewhere in yorkshire
at least once a week and I think the most interesting aspect of birding is going out there and seeing a bird and being able to recognise and name it. There are other things like seeing a bird that you haven't seen before and the biggest thrill of all
is seeing a rare bird. There are other things like how many different
species of birds you can see at one place or even in one day and seeing what
birds get up to, there are so many interesting and surprising things to look
out for. The other day I saw a black headed gull attacking a swan, the swan
was ducking and diving till the gull fled away, I thought one good peck from the swan at the gull would suffice to get rid of it but no, the swan calmly just kept ducking and diving, maybe a lesson for all of us eh!.
Email me even if its just for a chat I reply to you within the hour.
